Usage varies based on the surface and amount of buildup, but gentle swiping will dramatically extend sponge life. Pressing hard flattens the sponge and smooths out its surface making it not work and it could tear. Just gliding over the scuffs and dirt with the sponge is the key. Keep going back and forth lightly. Resist the urge to scrub. This is not a normal sponge!
